Oklahoma State, Oklahoma women's basketball teams awarded NCAA Tournament berths

The Oklahoma State and Oklahoma women’s basketball teams each earned NCAA Tournament berths, announced during Monday night’s selection show on ESPN.

Oklahoma State (23-8, 11-7 Big 12) earned the South Bend Regional’s No. 5 seed and will open the tournament against No. 12 seeded Florida Gulf Coast in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Sooners (18-14, 9-9 Big 12), making their 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, were awarded a No. 10 seed in the Lincoln Regional and will face No. 7-seeded DePaul in Durham, N.C.

Oklahoma was the preseason Big 12 Conference favorite, but struggled through an inconsistent, frustrating season. ESPN.com women’s bracketologist Charlie Creme listed OU as one of his “last four in” in his final projected field Sunday evening.

Six Big 12 schools — Baylor, West Virginia, Texas, OSU, Iowa State and OU — were awarded NCAA Tournament berths.

Baylor and West Virginia, the Big 12’s regular season co-champions, each earned No. 2 seeds.
